250 Families Gain Access to Safe Drinking Water in Samangan

Kabul, October 04, 2020 - A total of 250 families in Sangarkhil and Shorab villages related to Hazrat Sultan and Khuram-wa-Sarbagh districts of Samangan province have gained access to safe drinking water for the first time upon completion of a couple of water supply networks, worth nearly AFN 4 million funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).

Consisted of two concrete overhead water storage tanks 20 cubic meters each, two deep wells and 19 water points in various parts - the water supply networks have been designed to pipe out safe water to consumers over areas of 1,550 and 1,628 meters across two communities.

Taking the employment generation and economic recovery into consideration, a total of 1,241 labor days have been created for both skilled and unskilled local laborers during the project implementation.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Samangan province.
