A Solar Energy Network to Establish in Kandahar

Kabul, June 26, 2020 – A solar energy network capable of generating 4.6 KW electricity is under construction in Takhtapul district of Kandahar province.

The solar energy project worth AFN 1,760,000 funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) will provide light to a total of 40 families in Abdul Habib village.

This solar energy network is consisted of 14 solar panels 300 watt each, 12 batteries 200 ampere each and grid extension over an area of 770 meters.

The solar project about to complete soon has so far created some 210 labor days for both skilled and unskilled laborers at community level.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded uplift projects in different sectors are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Kandahar province.
