193 Families Gain Access to Safe Drinking Water in Badakhshan

Kabul, May 19, 2020 – Around 193 families in Karabala village, Shahr-e-Buzurg district of Badakhshan province have gained access to clean drinking water upon completion of a water supply network, worthmore than AFN 1.5 million funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).

Consisted of four reservoirs 42 cubic meters in size and 11 water points in various parts, the water supply network has been designed to distribute water to consumers over an area of 4,930 meters across the community.

Taking the employment generation and economic recovery into consideration, a total of 1,287 labor days have been created for both skilled and unskilled local laborers during the project implementation.
