Report on Progress of Water Supply Network Development Project

January 26, 2019 - Neighboring Okhowat CDC and Tawheed CDC are located in Gozar 4, District 15 of Herat Province. These CDC’s have 467 households (4255 persons out of which 2102 men and 2153 are women).

Lack of drinking water is one the major problems of these two CDCs, which use salty hand pump water to address their needs. Therefore, during the development of CD planning, both CDCs’ agreed to prioritize water supply network in their proposal. Later, their proposal was verified by Citizens’ Charter Afghanistan Program (CCAP) and practical work of the project was started.

This project includes construction of 13,812-meter water supply network, digging 150 meter deep well and construction of a 400-cubic meter reservoir with a total cost of 12,612,686 Afs (9,380,000  Afs is funded by CCAP and  25% which is 3,232,686 Afs is contributed by the communities) over a period of 9 months.  So far, about 50% of the project work is completed. By completion of the development project, 4255 people will benefit from it. During implementation of the development project, skilled worker will find a 982 working days job opportunities and unskilled workers will be able to work in the project for 5117 working days.
