88 Welfare Projects Put into Exploitation in Heart

Kabul, September 18, 2020 – A total of 88 development projects worth more than AFN 150 million, financed by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) were successfully completed and put into exploitation in Herat province.

The projects handed over by H.E Mirajudin Shams the MRRD Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration encompassed construction of 51 water supply networks, excavation of four deep wells equipped with hand pumps, rehabilitation and maintenance of 31 irrigation canals, a protective wall and a pedestrian/road-bridge.

Approximately, 75 thousand households in various communities related to Karukh, Oba, Pashtun Zarghon, Zandajan, Kuhsan and Farsi districts of Herat province have gained access to basic human needs upon completion of these projects.

In addition, more than 70 thousand labor days have been created for both skilled and unskilled laborers during implementation of the projects considering employment generation and economic recovery into consideration.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Herat province.
