The Handover Process of EQRA-funded School Buildings Starts in Balkh

Balkh, July 16, 2020 – The process of 90 school buildings constructed by the Education Quality Reform in Afghanistan (EQRA) Project under the auspices of the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) has pragmatically started in Balkh province.

The handover of these school buildings to the Balkh Education Directorate started in presence of Balkh Governor, Education Director, Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director and Citizens’ Charter Engineering Division Head and Provincial Management Unit Manager.

According to plan, a total of 147 school buildings are going to be constructed in the first phase of EQRA Project in Balkh province. So far, 90 of these school buildings have been handed over to Education Directorate, while the rest of them will be completed in near future.

The construction of the school buildings will promote the access of thousands of students to an appropriate learning environment in numerous communities of Balkh province.

It is worth mentioning that the handover of the school buildings, completed in the first phase of the EQRA Project, is currently underway in 17 provinces across Afghanistan.
