100 Hectares of Land to be Irrigated by an Irrigation Canal in Zabul

Kabul, June 23, 2020 – An irrigation canal 240 meters in length and one meter high is being constructed in Qalat the center of Zabul province at a sum of AFN 1,857,900 funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).

The Irrigation canal project is being implemented in Haji Amir village in Qalat the center of Zabul province.

A total of 100 hectares of land will be provided with irrigation facilities and a proper water supply system in the region upon completion of the canal project which has almost 95% work progress on the ground.

Meanwhile, some 1,820 labor days will be created for both skilled and unskilled laborers during the execution of canal project.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Zabul province.
