Start of projects’ works in 8 CDCs of Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program in Kandahar and Jalalabad Cities

Five CDCs of Gozar 6, District 13 of Kandahar province and three CDCs of Gozars 5 and 6, District 8 of Jalalabad city officially launched their projects implementation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by CCAP PMU head, technical and sectorial head of the municipalities, Representatives of Facilitating Partners (FP), members of CDCs and residents of the area.  

These projects include substantial construction of 6592 meters of drainage, 485 meters of sidewalk, 1397 meters street upgrading and installation of 4711 meters slabs on the top of the drainage in Kandahar province.  The projects in Jalalabad includes paving almost 4000 meters of provincial secondary and tertiary roads, upgrading 2840 meters of drainages, construction of 6 concrete small bridges, and construction of 570 meters of retaining walls.

The total cost of these eight projects is almost 48 million Afs, out of which 25% is community contribution of the relevant CDCs and the rest of it is provided by the government. The projects are expected to be completed in six months.

It is worth mentioning that 9500 persons will benefit from these projects in district 13 of Kandahar province and with completion of these development projects in Jalalabad, not only 81 labors (skilled and unskilled) of the area will find jobs but 714 families will also directly and 3700 persons will indirectly benefit from these projects.
