350 Jiribs of Land Irrigated in Kunar

Kabul, September 22, 2020 – An irrigation canal 250 meters in length has been constructed in Wardish village, Pech Dara district of Kunar province at a sum of AFN 1,850,000 funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).

Designed to directly benefit 236 families, the irrigation canal will properly supply water to a total of 350 jiribs of land which will lead to a significant increase in agricultural productivities that play a vital role in rural economy well-being.

Furthermore, some 1,234 labor days have been created for both local skilled and unskilled laborers during the execution of canal project.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Kunar province.
