284 Families Provided with Electricity in Nuristan

A Micro Hydro Power (MHP) project capable of generating 28KW energy has been constructed in Wama district of Nuristan province.

The MHP project worth more than 2.8 million Afghanis funded by the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP) including 10% community contribution (financial, labor or in-kind) enabled some 284 families to gain access to electricity in Sarepul village.

Some 1,876 labor days have been created for both skilled and unskilled laborers during the implementation of the MHP project as employment generation at community level.

It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Citizens’ Charter-funded development projects in different sectors are currently underway, while some of them have already been completed in various communities of Nuristan province.
