A CDC Election Held for a Kuchi Community in Badakhshan

In the light of a mandate set forth in the operations’ manual of the Citizens’ Charter National Priority Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/CCNPP), four key members of a Kuchi Community Development Council (KCDC) have been elected through a transparent democratic election process in Registan Elband, Baharak district of Badakhshan province.

A total of 80 eligible voters from eighty families have participated in this KCDC election casting their votes for their favorite candidates in three different election units in the Elband.

The four key members elected through a transparent election process included CDC Head, Deputy CDC Head, Secretary and Cashier. Taking the gender equality into consideration, both men and women have been elected equally for the leadership of the KCDC.  

It is worth mentioning that the elections of another 18 KCDCs have also been conducted by the MRRD/CCNPP field staff in various communities of Badakhshan province in the past.
